Get to Know Us
Welcome to Cantina Wine Tasting and Consulting! Cantina tasting and consulting was born out of a love for wine, agriculture and geology. The owner, Nancy Sackman, has lived on both sides of the Cascades in Washington State, but spent her formative years in East Wenatchee. Her first job was changing water pipes in the summer among the cherry and apple orchards along the banks of the Columbia River. She spent those long hot summer days riding her bike and motorcycle, playing Marco Polo in the pool with friends and listening to crickets sing in her basement bedroom at sunset. Yes, she was and still is a nerd geeking out over sci-fi movies and novels and the difference between basalt and gabbro rocks! She remembers her first sips of wine were of Cold Duck, wine spritzers and the infamous Blue Nun brand!
Now after a few more years of wine tasting exploring reds, whites, rosé and bubbly, a Master’s in geology and an internship in Italy, Nancy wants to share her enthusiasm for wine in a casual and fun setting with you. Her love is Pacific Northwest wines and specializes in single varietals with a touch of blends thrown in!
Cantina Wine Tasting and Consulting is woman and indigenous owned. Nancy’s father is a direct descendant of Chief Seattle who represented the Duwamish and Suquamish Tribe at the signing of the Treaty of Point Elliott in 1855. During the day Nancy works for her Tribe at the Duwamish Longhouse in West Seattle. At night she is mom to her 20 year old daughter Emily and grandmama to Emily’s two cats, Starla and Kitty.

Nancy wants to give a huge thank you to a few women who have helped her launch her business. First and foremost is to Tanya Morning Star Darling of Cellar Muse who has mentored her in this first year. Secondly to Kayla Ripley who is the graphic artist behind the logo and website. And finally a shout out to Teri Tamas and Allison Danis for their support!
